Labor is an essential activity for people to earn the income needed to lead a healthy and prosperous life. It is very important to have policies in place to ensure the necessary working conditions and a hygienic workplace environment so that people can work securely and safely.

From its base here in Geneva, the International Labour Organization (ILO) is working to create rules for improving the working environments of people around the globe and providing technical assistance to developing countries. As an original member country of the ILO, Japan has been deeply committed to its activities for over a century. Representing Japan in its capacity as a permanent member of the ILO Governing Body, our Mission works on various labor-related issues in cooperation with the ILO Secretariat, other permanent missions in Geneva, and representatives of workers and employers.
