Statement by Mr. KANATSU Takashi, First Secretary
The Permanent Mission of Japan in Geneva
5 November 2026
Thank you, Mr. Vice-President.
Japan warmly welcomes the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan to this session.
Japan highly appreciates the positive steps taken by Tajikistan to protect and promote human rights, including the adoption of its National Strategy on Human Rights for the period up to 2038 and the ratification of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities last month.
Japan would like to reiterate its second and third recommendations from the previous review cycle:
1. ratify the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance; and
2. develop a National Action Plan (NAP) in line with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, with the aim of promoting respect for human rights in the context of business activities.
We wish the delegation of Tajikistan every success in the review.
I thank you, Mr. Vice-President.
