第63回人権理事会　議題4　一般討論における尾池厚之大使ステートメント

 
   Thank you, Mr. President Mr. Vice-President.

   Japan remains deeply concerned about serious human rights violations across the world.

   Regarding Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, we once again call on the Russian Federation to fulfill all its obligations under international human rights law. We have witnessed a number of serious human rights violations by Russia, including abduction of children. We urge Russia to repatriate all abducted children to reunite them with their loved ones immediately.

   On China, Japan is concerned about the recent trend of tightening restrictions on human rights defenders, intellectuals, and other individuals. Freedom, respect for fundamental human rights, and the rule of law must be ensured in China, including Hong Kong, Xinjiang, and Tibet. We strongly urge China to take further constructive and concrete actions, including enhancing transparency.

   The issue of abductions by North Korea relates to the sanctity of human life and must be resolved without delay, as the abductees and their families continue to age. In close cooperation with the international community, including through “the resolutions on the situation of human rights in the DPRK,” Japan continues to strongly urge Pyongyang to resolve the abductions issue immediately. Given the High Commissioner’s statement that the situation surrounding North Korea remains firmly on the agenda,Japan counts on the international community’s cooperation in resolving the abductions issue.
