第52回普遍的・定期的レビュー(UPR)作業部会対ベルギー王国審査における金津尚志書記官ステートメント(2026年5月6日)

令和8年5月6日
UPR of the Kingdom of Belgium
Statement by Mr. KANATSU Takashi, First Secretary
The Permanent Mission of Japan in Geneva
6 May 2026

   Thank you, Mr. Vice-President.

Japan warmly welcomes the delegation of Belgium to this session.

Japan appreciates Belgium’s efforts to eliminate discrimination and promote social inclusion, particularly with regard to the rights of women, LGBTQIA+ persons, and ethnic minorities. We also commend Belgium’s investment in education and awareness-raising, including on combating cyberhate, to foster respect for diversity and human rights within its society.

In a spirit of constructive dialogue, Japan would like to make two recommendations:

  1. intensify efforts to eradicate inequalities and to address economic disparities that contribute to social exclusion; and
  2. strengthen human rights protections within the judiciary and law enforcement sectors to ensure justice and accountability.
We wish the delegation of Belgium every success in the review.

   I thank you.
