令和7年1月23日
UPR of the Republic of Angola
Statement by Mr. TAKEUCHI Yasuaki, Human Rights Adviser
The Permanent Mission of Japan in Geneva
23 January 2025

   Thank you, Mr. President.

Japan warmly welcomes the delegation of the Republic of Angola.

Japan welcomes Angola’s continued endeavor to advance human rights since the previous review cycle. In particular, Japan takes note of Angola’s ongoing efforts to protect and promote the right to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health, including through actions to reduce maternal and child mortality rates. Japan further welcomes Angola’s efforts to increase access to justice through judicial and legal reforms.

In the spirit of constructive dialogue, Japan recommends that Angola:
  1. continue and strengthen policies to eliminate malaria and tuberculosis, including through ensuring access to quality health-care services; and
  2. continue to promote a culture of respect for human rights through education and awareness-raising at all levels of society.
Japan wishes the delegation of Angola every success in its review.

   I thank you.
