第47回普遍的・定期的レビュー(UPR)作業部会対コートジボワール共和国審査における竹内康朗専門調査員ステートメント(2024年11月5日)

令和6年11月5日
UPR of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire
Statement by Mr. TAKEUCHI Yasuaki, Human Rights Adviser
The Permanent Mission of Japan in Geneva
5 November 2024

   Thank you, Mr. President.

Japan takes notes of the efforts made by the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire since the previous review, including its efforts to accept and accommodate refugees and asylum seekers from neighbouring countries.

Japan commends Côte d’Ivoire on its cooperation with UN Women to protect women and girls of asylum seekers and to support host communities. We appreciate the initiatives, such as the distribution of hygiene kits and the establishment of facilities that provide psychological support and guidance on gender-based violence, which we have contributed to.

However, Japan is concerned about the status of implementation of polices relevant to these initiatives. In this regard, we recommend that Côte d’Ivoire:

  1) redouble its efforts to improve the human rights situation of displaced persons; and

  2) strengthen its efforts to protect and promote the human rights of women and girls by enhancing their meaningful participation in decision-making processes including through revision of the NAP (national action plan) of the WPS agenda.

We wish the delegation of Côte d’Ivoire every success in the review.

   I thank you.
