Japan thanks the Special Rapporteur for her work.
Japan is committed to realizing a society in which “everyone can feel a sense of fulfillment in life” and fully realize their potential regardless of their circumstances.
We have been taking various concrete measures to faithfully implement the CRPD over the 10 years since it ratified the Convention in 2014.
At the national level, such efforts include developing and implementing the Basic Programme for Persons with Disabilities, which is our most fundamental plan for persons with disabilities.
Japan has also been working to promote measures to support the independence and social participation of persons with disabilities under a framework of international cooperation.
We will continue to make such efforts over the next decade and beyond.
Madam Special Rapporteur, in your view, what are the key drivers to achieve your expressed commitment to “push forward” for the full realization of the rights of persons with disabilities?
Thank you.
