Cooperation with and assistance to Ukraine in the field of human rights (13 July 2021)

Thank you, Madam President.
 
 Japan thanks Ukraine for presenting the draft resolution on Cooperation with and assistance to Ukraine in the field of human rights.
 
 Japan appreciates cooperation of Ukraine with OHCHR and its commitment to improve the situation of human rights in the country. Japan also values the monitoring, reporting and technical assistance of OHCHR on the situation of human rights in Ukraine.
 
 Japan expects all concerned parties to implement the Minsk Agreement. Japan also attaches importance to unhindered access of the international monitoring mission, including OHCHR, in eastern Ukraine and the Crimean Peninsula, and strongly expects that international human rights standards will be respected in the region.
 
 In light of the above, Japan supports this draft resolution and calls on the member of the Council to do the same.
