Statement by Mr. TAKEUCHI Yasuaki, Second Secretary
The Permanent Mission of Japan in Geneva
6 May 2026
Thank you, Mr. Vice-President.
Japan welcomes the delegation of the Republic of Paraguay and appreciates its continued engagement with the human rights mechanisms.
Japan notes the inclusion of the aims of advancing human rights and strengthening the judicial system in Paraguay’s National Development Plan 2050. We further note Paraguay’s ongoing efforts to implement its National Human Rights Plan and to promote social protection and poverty reduction.
In a spirit of constructive dialogue, Japan recommends that Paraguay:
- strengthen the administration of justice to ensure access to justice for all, including by improving the transparency and timeliness of judicial proceedings; and
- further enhance access to basic services—such as adequate housing, water, and sanitation—for persons in vulnerable situations, including persons with disabilities.
We wish Paraguay every success in its review.
I thank you.
I thank you.
