Thank you, Mr. President.
Japan warmly welcomes the delegation of the Republic of the Marshall Islands to this Session.
Japan highly appreciates the Marshall Islands’ active engagement as a Council member and its contributions to the international community. Japan welcomes the implementation by the Marshall Islands of the recommendations made in the third UPR cycle.
Japan commends the Marshall Islands for having enhanced governance and transparency through strategic reforms targeting human trafficking and corruption.
In a spirit of constructive dialogue, Japan would like to make two recommendations:
1. continue to strengthen the implementation of relevant legislation and measures to promote and protect the rights to health and to employment for persons with disabilities; and
2. redouble efforts to promote and protect the rights of women and children, including through enhancing response to gender-based violence.
We wish the delegation of the Marshall Islands every success in the review.
I thank you.
