Thank you, Mr. Vice-President.
Japan warmly welcomes the delegation of the Republic of Türkiye to this session.
Japan recognises the positive steps taken by Türkiye since the last UPR cycle. In particular, we highly appreciate its measures to ensure the protection and promotion of the rights of refugees and other asylum seekers in the region, including from Syria. We also commend its efforts to continue to engage in dialogue with different ethnic groups within its territory.
In the spirit of constructive dialogue, Japan recommends that Türkiye:

- strengthen the independence and impartiality of the judiciary, including through implementing its Fourth Judicial Reform Strategy in accordance with its obligations under international human rights law; and
- ensure and promote an enabling environment for freedom of expression and assembly by paying due regard to relevant international human rights standards.
