Thank you, Madam Vice-President.
Japan warmly welcomes the delegation of Guinea to this session.
Japan commends Guinea’s efforts to strengthen its institutional framework. We especially welcome the upcoming constitutional referendum scheduled for September, which marks the first step towards civilian administration.
In the spirit of constructive dialogue, Japan recommends that Guinea:

- ensure that its citizens’ right to participate in public affairs is duly respected and protected during the process of the transition to civilian rule;
- continue to protect and promote the right to health for all persons, by promoting universal health coverage;
- continue to protect and promote women’s rights, through combatting violence against women and girls; and
- take the necessary measures to ensure the protection of human rights under the UNGPs, in the context of the development of the Simandou project.
We wish the Delegation of Guinea every success in this review.
