The Permanent Mission of Japan in Geneva
12 November 2024
Thank you, Madam Vice-President.
Japan appreciates the steps taken by the State of Qatar since the previous review cycle, including the implementation of the Qatar National Vision 2030, which increased participation of women in the labor market, and measures to protect children, such as the creation of the “Help Me” application, which supports children exposed to abuse or violence.
In the spirit of constructive dialogue, we recommend that Qatar:
1) further strengthen efforts to promote the rights of women and girls;
2) enhance initiatives to guarantee the fundamental freedoms and rights enshrined in the ICCPR (International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights); and
3) continue to enhance educational and vocational training programs to protect and promote the rights of persons with disabilities in line with the CRPD (the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities).
We wish the delegation of the State of Qatar every success in the review.
I thank you.
