TAKEUCHI Yasuaki, Human Rights Adviser
The Permanent Mission of Japan in Geneva
6 May 2024
Thank you, Mr. Vice-President.
Japan welcomes the Eritrean delegation to this session.
Japan notes Eritrea’s efforts to submit and hold interactive dialogue on the sixth periodic report on the implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).
Noting that Eritrea is a state party to a number of international human rights treaties, Japan recommends that Eritrea:
- continue to implement measures to uphold its obligations under the international human rights treaties to which it is a state party;
- take further measures to prevent violence against women and girls; and
- consider ratifying the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.We wish the Eritrean delegation every success in this review.
I thank you.
