Asian Ambassadors’ Wives Association Geneva (AAWAG) Asian Festival 2026
2026/9/8
On 2 September, the Asian Ambassadors’ Wives Association Geneva (AAWAG) hosted a charity event—Asian Festival 2026—at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). On the day, AAWAG members and the Permanent Missions of 25 countries came together around the theme of “Wonders of Asia” to put on exhibitions featuring each country’s traditional arts and crafts, food, and cultural performances.
The Permanent Mission of Japan showcased Japanese culture through, among others, a matcha demonstration by Mrs. Oike, Ambassador Oike’s wife, and a selection of Japanese food and desserts, including items specially prepared by the Mission’s official chefs. Guests also enjoyed a Nihon-Buyo performance (a style of traditional Japanese dance) by Atelier Nihon-Buyo Geneva, led by Ms. SUGAWARA Keiko, who was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays in the 2026 Spring Conferment of Decorations.
The proceeds from this event will be donated through AAWAG to the Geneva-based Cancer Support Switzerland and the Au Coeur des Grottes Foundation, which supports victims of trafficking.
