2025/3/11
A reception in celebration of the Emperor’s birthday was held at the Mission of Japan on 5 March. The reception was jointly hosted by the Permanent Mission of Japan to the International Organizations in Geneva, the Delegation of Japan to the Conference on Disarmament, and the Consulate of Japan in Geneva.
Ambassadors from other Permanent Missions and heads of international organizations in Geneva were among the approximately 340 guests in attendance.
Last December, the “Traditional knowledge and skills of sake-making with koji mold in Japan” was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. To mark this occasion, Mr. Keiichiro Miyagawa, President of the Kura Master Association based in France, was invited to introduce Japanese sake (rice wine) at the reception.
There was a variety of dishes prepared by the Ambassadors’ chefs and drinks offered in the bustling reception hall, including a selection of sake and red and white wines from around Japan.
