Conferment of Decoration: Mr. Victor Do Prado, Former Director of Council and Trade Negotiations Committee Division at the WTO (14 March 2024)

On 14 March, a ceremony was held at the Ambassador’s residence to confer Mr. Victor Do Prado, former Director of Council and Trade Negotiations Committee Division at the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette.
At the ceremony, Ambassador Oike first acknowledged Mr. Do Prado’s contribution to the development of the multilateral trading system and to the strengthening of relations between the WTO and Japan, and congratulated Mr. Do Prado on these achievements during his tenure as Director of Council and Trade Negotiations Committee Division. Ambassador Oike then conferred the diploma and insignia of the Order to Mr. Do Prado. Upon accepting the conferment, Mr. Do Prado gave a speech, during which he expressed his appreciation for the conferment and for Japan’s contribution to the multilateral trading system, with the WTO at its core which he wishes would to develop further.
The ceremony was attended by prominent guests, including officials from the WTO Secretariat and close friends of Mr. Do Prado.
