Japan’s Assistance for Pandemic Response in Collaboration with ITC (5 April 2022)

On 5 April, Ambassador Yamazaki held an official ceremony to exchange documents with Ms. Pamela Coke-Hamilton, Executive Director of the International Trade Center, regarding Japan’s recent contribution to ITC for technical assistance in Africa.
 
On this occasion, the Japanese government provided US$ 540,343 in total to ITC for several projects, including technical assistance to Nigeria for expanding production and distribution of vaccines in Africa, and capacity building to enhance female entrepreneurs’ ability to utilize e-commerce in their businesses.

At the ceremony, Ms. Coke-Hamilton and Ambassador Yamazaki shared their common commitment to strengthening coordination for providing assistance to developing countries. They placed particular emphasis on collaboration for tackling pandemics, both now and in the future, and for building digital capacity, which is all the more important amid the current COVID-19 crisis.
