Courtesy call by Ambassador Yamazaki to Ms. Rebeca Grynspan, UNCTAD’s Secretary General (4 April 2022)

On 4 April, Ambassador Yamazaki exchanged views with Rebeca Grynspan, Secretary General of UNCTAD, whose Secretariat is located in the United Nations Office in Geneva. Ambassador Yamazaki highlighted the role that UNCTAD plays in the areas of trade and development for developing countries. He further conveyed the importance of cooperation with UNCTAD in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the current situation in Ukraine.
Ms. Grynspan expressed her gratitude for the continued support from Japan, one of UNCTAD’s founding members. Both sides expressed interest in increasing their collaboration in the future, especially in the area of e-commerce including at UNCTAD's ‘eCommerce Week’, its international forum on e-commerce held in April.
