Japan’s Assistance for Digital Transformation in Collaboration with ITC (29 March 2021)

On 29 March, Ambassador Yamazaki held an official ceremony to exchange documents with Ms. Pamela Coke-Hamilton, Executive Director of the International Trade Center, regarding Japan’s recent contribution to ITC for digital assistance in Africa and the Middle East.
On this occasion, the Japanese government provided US$ 1,223,209 in total to ITC for the following projects.
- Technical assistance to female entrepreneurs for utilizing e-commerce in their businesses
- Technical assistance to refugees and young people in Gaza, Palestine, for promoting their self-employment through training in digital skills
- Technical assistance to displaced people in Somalia for promoting their economic self-reliance through training in digital skills
At the ceremony, Ms. Coke-Hamilton and Ambassador Yamazaki shared their common commitment to strengthening coordination on assistance to developing countries especially for building digital capacity, which is all the more important amid the current COVID-19 crisis.
