Ambassador Yamazaki delivers a statement at the 15th UNCTAD Conference

On 6 October, Ambassador Yamazaki delivered a video statement on behalf of Japan at the 15th session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD 15). The Conference was held in a hybrid format connecting, Barbados, the host country and UNCTAD in Geneva, and all speakers delivered pre-recorded statements. In his statement, Ambassador Yamazaki expressed his expectations for the Conference to serve as an important opportunity to find renewed global solidarity to address various socio-economic issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ambassador explained Japan’s own activities in this regard. He mentioned Japan’s plan for its second voluntary national review, for the first time in four years, to evaluate the progress of its efforts to achieve the SDGs. He also underlined the importance of discussing environmental sustainability and the digital transformation, including e-commerce, as priority agenda of Japan.
