Ambassador Yamazaki Attends a WTO meeting on the Joint Statement Initiative on e-commerce (10 December 2020)

A WTO meeting on the Joint Statement Initiative on e-commerce, which is co-convened by Australia, Japan and Singapore, took place virtually on 10 December. Ambassador YAMAZAKI Kazuyuki attended the meeting as a co-convener. In the meeting, members expressed their appreciation for the progress achieved so far, in particular the development of the consolidated negotiating text that incorporated all the updates from the ongoing negotiations. In addition, the three co-conveners underscored that members need to intensify the negotiations next year in order to achieve a high-standard outcome in the future, while being duly mindful of the challenges faced by developing members.
