Reception hosted by Ambassador Ihara for the 68th Executive Council of the WMO(June 17, 2016)
On June 17, on the occasion of the 68th Executive Council of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), Ambassador Junichi IHARA hosted a reception at the WMO headquarter. In his opening speech, Ambassador IHARA stressed the importance of the WMO to address growing global issues such as disaster risk reduction and climate change. Over 180 guests from the delegations of the Executive Council members and the Secretariat of the WMO participated in this event to share and exchange their views on these global issues and the role of the WMO. Participants also expressed their appreciation for Japan’s contributions to global meteorology. Japan has been making both major financial contributions and, based on its rich experience and expertise in the field of meteorology, significant operational contributions to the WMO.
